If you wish to contribute to [Netzchleuder](https://networks.skewed.de) with a new dataset, please follow these steps:
1. Navigate to the [Issues](../issues) page and open a new issue.
2. Under 'Description: choose template' select ``new_dataset``.
3. Follow the instructions in the template, and provide the requested information.
(For users which are so inclined, the new datasets can also be added by forking the git repository, modifying the source code directly and proposing a merge request.)

# FAQ
## Do I need to be the owner of the dateset to ask it to be included in the repository?
No. As long the datasets is publicly available, and upstream allows dissemination, it can be included.
## Do I need to provide upstream files in any particular format?
No, the repository is implemented by writing code that downloads, parses and converts the upstream files to the ones that can be downloaded from the repository website. Therefore, we can handle any upstream format for which this can be done (which includes even Excel files). However, machine friendly formats such as [gt](https://graph-tool.skewed.de/static/doc/gt_format.html), [GraphML](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/GraphML), and [GML](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Graph_Modelling_Language) are very welcome, since it makes parsing and conversion easier and less error-prone.

## I have converted some networks from their upstream sources into [gt](https://graph-tool.skewed.de/static/doc/gt_format.html)/[GraphML](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/GraphML)/[GML](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Graph_Modelling_Language), would this be useful to you?
Potentially. The converted files themselves are not really useful, since the repository attempts **always** to point directly to the upstream sources. What could be very useful is the code that was used to do the conversion, even if it's not perfect or doesn't conform directly to how things are done in Netzschleuder (e.g. if it is implemented in a different programming language). Such information can be useful to implement the parsing in the repository. |
